Better photos in one click
Photos sent through messaging apps, saved from social networks or scanned from old prints lose quality: blocky compression, noise, soft edges. The enhancer runs an AI restoration model that removes compression artefacts and noise and rebuilds crisp edges, and returns the photo at twice its width and height so the new detail has room to show.
It's the quick fix for:
- photos received on WhatsApp or downloaded from social media;
- old digital camera pictures and scanned prints;
- product photos that look soft on a modern screen.
The model restores what is there; it doesn't invent a face or text that can't be seen. Very large photos are reduced to 2 megapixels before enhancing.
For a specific size, use the Image upscaler (2× or 4×); to sharpen without enlarging, Unblur.
Private and free
The AI runs in your browser; the model is small (5 MB) and downloaded once. Your photos never leave your device, and there's no watermark.
How this works
The photo goes through Real-ESRGAN (BSD-3-Clause), an open-source restoration and super-resolution network trained to undo common real-world damage such as blur, noise and JPEG compression. It runs in overlapping tiles on your graphics card (WebGPU) or processor, produces four times the pixels, and the result is resized smoothly to twice the original size and saved as JPG at quality 95.
Frequently asked
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The AI runs in your browser on this device.
Does it work on old photos?
Yes, on scanned prints and early digital photos it reduces noise and sharpens edges. Scratches and tears aren't repaired.
Why is the result bigger?
Restored detail needs pixels to show, so the photo comes back at twice its width and height.
Will it change faces?
It sharpens what is there and doesn't replace faces, so people still look like themselves.
