Why convert Excel to CSV

CSV is what databases, e-commerce platforms, mailing tools, accounting systems and import screens ask for. Converting an Excel sheet gives a plain file any system reads, without formulas or formatting getting in the way.

Excel is an Excel workbook (XLSX, XLS, or OpenDocument ODS), with sheets, formats and formulas; CSV is plain text with one row per line and values separated by commas or semicolons.

What to expect

• Cell values are exported as shown (formulas become their results; colours, fonts and charts are not part of the data).
• Workbooks with several sheets: choose the first sheet or all of them, one file per sheet, together in a ZIP.
• The CSV is UTF-8 with a byte-order mark, so Excel shows accents correctly; pick semicolon for Excel set to Portuguese or most European languages.

Your data stays on your device

Spreadsheets often hold customer lists, salaries or financial records. Here the conversion runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded; you can convert up to five files at once.

The file is read in a Web Worker by SheetJS Community Edition, an open-source spreadsheet library that reads XLSX, XLS, ODS, CSV and JSON. It builds a workbook in memory and writes it out as CSV: each sheet's cells as text, joined by the separator you chose, rows on separate lines. Results appear on the page and can be downloaded.
