FictionBook to the format every reader opens
FB2 is popular for e-books in Russian and Eastern European libraries but few readers support it. Choose an FB2 file (or an .fb2.zip) and get an EPUB with its chapters, footnotes, pictures, table of contents and cover. Send it to your Kindle with Send to Kindle or open it in any EPUB reader.
What converts best
Books without DRM: titles from Project Gutenberg, Standard Ebooks, Humble Bundle, independent authors and your own documents converted for Kindle. Store purchases with copy protection are encrypted and can't be read by any converter. Text, headings, pictures, tables and footnotes come through; fixed-layout books keep their pages as pictures.
Private
The book is read and converted by your browser: it is never uploaded, and nothing is stored.
How this works
Your browser reads the FictionBook XML with foliate-js, an open-source e-book library, turns each section into a chapter and the notes into their own pages, saves the embedded pictures as files and writes a standard EPUB 3 with a table of contents. Nothing leaves your device.
Frequently asked
Is my book uploaded?
The book is read and converted by your browser: it is never uploaded, and nothing is stored.
Does it work with books I bought on Amazon?
Only if they have no DRM. Most store purchases are encrypted so that only Kindle apps can open them, and they can't be converted; the page tells you when that's the case.
Will Send to Kindle accept the EPUB?
Yes. Amazon's Send to Kindle takes EPUB directly (it converts it for the Kindle itself).
Is it free?
Yes, with no account and no limit: it runs on your device.
