Numbers on every page
Merged reports, theses, contracts and printed handouts are easier to discuss when every page has a number. Pick the options and press Add numbers:
- Position: bottom centre or bottom right.
- Style: just the number (
7) or number and total (7 / 24). - Start at: begin at another number, for example 3 when the first two pages are a cover and a contents page you'll add later, or 0 to leave the cover as page zero.
Numbers are written as real text in a small, neutral font, so they print sharply and can be searched. Rotated pages get their number at the bottom as you read them. You can number up to five PDFs at once with the same settings.
Private
Your PDF is numbered by your own browser and never uploaded.
How this works
The PDF is opened in a Web Worker with pdf-lib. For each page the tool works out where the bottom edge is as you see the page (taking its rotation into account), then draws the number there in 10-point Helvetica, one of the fonts every PDF reader has built in. Existing content is left untouched; the number is added on top.
Frequently asked
Can I start numbering from another page number?
Yes. Set Start at; the first page gets that number and the rest follow.
Can I skip the cover page?
Set Start at to 0 so the cover is page 0 and the next page is 1. To leave the cover unnumbered, split it off first and merge it back afterwards.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The numbers are added by your browser on this device.
Are the numbers searchable?
Yes. They are real text, not images.
