Cut by time, save as MP3
Type the start and end of the piece you want, as seconds (45) or minutes and seconds (1:05, 1:05.5), and press Cut audio. Leave the end empty to keep everything to the end, or set only the end to drop the tail.
It works with MP3, M4A (iPhone voice memos), WAV, FLAC, OGG and Opus (WhatsApp voice notes) and with the sound of MP4, MOV and WebM videos. The cut piece is saved as MP3, which every phone, player and editor opens:
- 128 kbps for speech and the smallest files;
- 192 kbps sounds like the original for most listening;
- 320 kbps for music.
Popular uses: a 30-second ringtone, the best minute of a lecture, a quote from an interview, the chorus of a song you recorded.
On your device
The audio is cut by your browser. It is never uploaded, and there's no size or daily limit.
How this works
In a Web Worker, Mediabunny reads the file in slices; your browser's decoders (WebCodecs) decode the part between your two times, and the sound is encoded as MP3 by LAME, the open-source MP3 encoder, compiled to WebAssembly and loaded only when needed. The MP3 is written to the browser's private storage, then offered for download.
Frequently asked
How do I make a ringtone?
Cut 20 to 30 seconds and download the MP3. Android uses it directly; iPhones need ringtones in M4R format, which you can set up through Apple's apps.
Can I cut a WhatsApp voice note?
Yes. Save the .opus or .ogg file, choose it here, and cut the part you want; it comes out as MP3.
Is my audio uploaded?
No. It is cut by your browser on this device.
Does cutting lower the quality?
The piece is saved again as MP3; at 192 kbps or more it sounds like the original.
