Read a PDF comfortably on an e-reader
A PDF has fixed pages, so on a phone or a 6-inch e-reader you end up zooming and scrolling sideways. Choose a PDF and get an EPUB whose text reflows to fit any screen, at the font size you like, with chapters split at the headings and a table of contents. Send it to your Kindle with Send to Kindle, or open it in Kobo, Apple Books or Google Play Books.
What converts best
PDFs made from a document (reports, articles, books written in a word processor) convert best. A scanned paper document is only pictures of text: run OCR PDF on it first (it works in your browser), then convert the result.
Private and temporary
Your PDF is uploaded to private cloud storage (Cloudflare R2), converted by an isolated worker without internet access, and deleted: the upload when the EPUB is ready, the EPUB after an hour (24 hours with a free account).
How this works
The converter first rebuilds the PDF as an editable document (paragraphs, headings, lists, tables and pictures, the same engine as PDF to Word), then writes that content as web pages inside an EPUB, starting a new chapter at each main heading and adding a table of contents. Page layout is dropped on purpose, so the text can reflow on any screen.
Frequently asked
Do I need an account?
No. PDFs up to 10 MB convert without one; a free account takes up to 25 MB.
Will it work on my Kindle?
Yes. Send the EPUB with Amazon's Send to Kindle (email, app or website); it converts EPUB for Kindle itself. Kobo, Apple Books and Google Play Books open EPUB directly.
Does it keep the PDF's layout?
No, on purpose: an ebook's text reflows to fit the screen. Headings, lists, tables and pictures are kept; columns, page headers and exact positions are not. For a fixed copy, keep the PDF.
Is my file private?
It goes to private cloud storage (Cloudflare R2), is converted by an isolated worker and deleted: the upload when the result is ready, the result after 1 hour (24 hours with a free account).
