Minutes and hours
A minute is exactly 60 seconds. Cooking times, phone plans, meetings and workouts are counted in minutes.
An hour is 60 minutes, or 3,600 seconds. Working time, wages, travel time and billing are counted in hours.
Worked example
Convert 135 min: 135 × 0.01666666667 = 2.25, so 135 minutes is 2.25 hours. Likewise 100 min = 1.666666667 h.
Estimating in your head
Divide by 60 for a quick figure; it is off by about 0%. For 135 min that gives 2.25 h, against 2.25 exactly.
Going the other way
To convert hours to minutes, divide by 0.01666666667 (or multiply by 60). The swap button between the boxes opens that page.
How this works
h = min × 0.01666666667
1 min = 60 s and 1 h = 3,600 s, both by definition, so the factor is their ratio: 0.01666666667 (rounded here; the page uses the full value). Results drop binary floating-point noise beyond 15 significant digits and display at the precision you choose (6 significant figures by default). Copy result copies the full value.
Frequently asked
How many hours are in a minute?
1 minute = 0.01666666667 hours. The factor is exact by definition but has endless decimals, so it is shown rounded; the page uses the full value.
How do I convert minutes to hours?
Multiply by 0.01666666667. For example, 100 min × 0.01666666667 = 1.666666667 h.
What is 1,000 min in hours?
1,000 min = 16.66666667 h. The table next to the converter lists more common values.
Is the result rounded?
Only on screen. The page computes with the exact definitions and removes floating-point noise past 15 significant digits; pick 3 to 12 significant figures, or use Copy result for the full value.
