Hours and minutes
An hour is 60 minutes, or 3,600 seconds. Working time, wages, travel time and billing are counted in hours.
A minute is exactly 60 seconds. Cooking times, phone plans, meetings and workouts are counted in minutes.
Worked example
Convert 2.75 h: 2.75 × 60 = 165, so 2.75 hours is 165 minutes. Likewise 2 h = 120 min.
Estimating in your head
The factor is a short exact number, so mental math needs no rounding: multiply by 60.
Going the other way
To convert minutes to hours, divide by 60 (or multiply by 0.0166666666667). The swap button between the boxes opens that page.
How this works
min = h × 60
1 h = 3,600 s and 1 min = 60 s, both by definition, so the factor is their ratio: 60 exactly. Results drop binary floating-point noise beyond 15 significant digits and display at the precision you choose (6 significant figures by default). Copy result copies the full value.
Frequently asked
How many minutes are in a hour?
1 hour = 60 minutes, exactly. The value follows from the unit definitions, so it never changes.
How do I convert hours to minutes?
Multiply by 60. For example, 2 h × 60 = 120 min.
What is 10 h in minutes?
10 h = 600 min. The table next to the converter lists more common values.
Is the result rounded?
Only on screen. The page computes with the exact definitions and removes floating-point noise past 15 significant digits; pick 3 to 12 significant figures, or use Copy result for the full value.
