Resize images

Make a picture the size you need: half size, 1080 pixels wide for social media, or to fit a box. Proportions are kept, and your images never leave your device.

Your images are resized on this device and never uploaded.

Four ways to set the size

  • Percentage: 50 % halves both sides, a quarter of the pixels. Good for making big phone photos manageable.
  • Width: set the width in pixels, such as 1080 for Instagram or 1920 for a full-HD screen; the height follows.
  • Height: the same, starting from the height.
  • Fit in a box: the picture becomes as large as possible inside width × height without being cut or stretched, for example 800 × 800 for a store's product images.

The aspect ratio is always kept, so nothing is squashed. To change the shape, use Crop image first. The resized picture keeps its format (JPG stays JPG, PNG stays PNG with its transparency), and its name gets the new size, like photo-1080x810.jpg.

You can resize up to five pictures at once with the same settings.

On your device

Resizing happens in your browser; nothing is uploaded and there is no limit on how often you use it.

How this works

The new size is computed from your choice, rounding to whole pixels and never below 1 pixel. Each picture is decoded by your browser in a Web Worker, with phone orientation applied, and redrawn at the new size with high-quality smoothing, then saved in its original format (JPEG and WebP at quality 92). Enlarging works but can't add detail that wasn't there.

Frequently asked

Will my picture be stretched?

No. The aspect ratio is always kept. To change the shape, crop the picture first.

What size for Instagram or WhatsApp?

Use Width 1080 for Instagram posts and stories. WhatsApp and most messaging apps resize to about 1600 px on the long side anyway.

Are my images uploaded?

No. They are resized by your browser on this device.

Can I make a picture bigger?

Yes, with a percentage above 100 or a larger width, but enlarging can't add detail, so it may look soft.
