Clean images without retyping anything
Text gets in the way when you want to reuse a picture: a date printed by an old camera, a caption burned into a meme template, labels on a diagram, a price on a product photo. Paint over the words, press Erase, and the AI fills that area with the surrounding background.
It works best when the text sits on a plain or natural background (sky, wall, a single colour, fabric). Text over a busy photo or across faces is harder to fill convincingly; erase it in smaller pieces for the best result.
Please only remove text from images you have the right to edit. Removing a photographer's or creator's credit or watermark from their work isn't what this tool is for.
To copy the text out of a picture instead, use Image to text.

The AI model (28 MB) runs in your browser and is downloaded once. Your image never leaves your device.
How this works
Your brush strokes mark the pixels to erase. The image and that mask are processed by MI-GAN (MIT), an open-source inpainting network, run by ONNX Runtime on your graphics card (WebGPU) or processor. It generates new background for the marked area from its surroundings at 512 pixels and blends it into the image at full resolution; everything outside the strokes is left untouched.
Frequently asked
Is my image uploaded?
No. The AI runs in your browser on this device.
Can it remove watermarks?
It isn't meant for that. Watermarks identify a creator's work; only edit images you have the right to change.
Why does the fill look smudged?
Large areas or busy backgrounds are hard to invent. Erase in smaller pieces and paint just beyond the letters.
Can I copy the text before removing it?
Yes, with Image to text, which reads the words out of a picture.
