Milliliters and teaspoons
The milliliter is one thousandth of a liter, the same volume as one cubic centimeter. Medicine doses, cosmetics, small bottles and metric recipes are measured in milliliters.
The US teaspoon is a third of a tablespoon: exactly 4.92892159375 milliliters. Baking powder, salt, vanilla and medicine doses are measured in teaspoons; dosing spoons usually use a rounded 5 mL.
Worked example
Convert 10 mL: 10 × 0.2028841362 = 2.028841362, so 10 milliliters is 2.028841362 teaspoons. Likewise 50 mL = 10.14420681 tsp.
Estimating in your head
Divide by 4.9 for a quick figure; it is off by about 0.6%. For 10 mL that gives 2.04 tsp, against 2.02884 exactly.
Going the other way
To convert teaspoons to milliliters, divide by 0.2028841362 (or multiply by 4.92892159375). The swap button between the boxes opens that page.
How this works
tsp = mL × 0.2028841362
1 mL = 0.000001 m³ and 1 tsp = 0.00000492892159375 m³, both by definition, so the factor is their ratio: 0.2028841362 (rounded here; the page uses the full value). Results drop binary floating-point noise beyond 15 significant digits and display at the precision you choose (6 significant figures by default). Copy result copies the full value.
Frequently asked
How many teaspoons are in a milliliter?
1 milliliter = 0.2028841362 teaspoons. The factor is exact by definition but has endless decimals, so it is shown rounded; the page uses the full value.
How do I convert milliliters to teaspoons?
Multiply by 0.2028841362. For example, 50 mL × 0.2028841362 = 10.14420681 tsp.
What is 100 mL in teaspoons?
100 mL = 20.28841362 tsp. The table next to the converter lists more common values.
Is the result rounded?
Only on screen. The page computes with the exact definitions and removes floating-point noise past 15 significant digits; pick 3 to 12 significant figures, or use Copy result for the full value.
