Seguro-desemprego in Brazil
CLT workers dismissed without cause can receive unemployment insurance for 3 to 5 months. The amount depends on the average salary of the last three months before dismissal and is set by a table updated every January.
| Average salary (2026) | Monthly instalment |
|---|---|
| Up to R$ 2,222.17 | 80% of the average |
| R$ 2,222.18 to R$ 3,703.99 | R$ 1,777.74 + 50% of the amount above R$ 2,222.17 |
| Above R$ 3,703.99 | R$ 2,518.65 (ceiling) |
No instalment is below the minimum wage of R$ 1,621.
Worked example
An average of R$ 3,000 gives R$ 1,777.74 + 50% × 777.83 = R$ 2,166.66 a month. With 24 months worked on a first request, that is 5 instalments, R$ 10,833.30 in total.
How many instalments
On a first request you need at least 12 months of work in the last 36: 4 instalments for 12–23 months, 5 for 24 or more. Later requests need fewer months.
How this works
The page applies the 2026 band to your average salary, rounds to the cent and raises it to the minimum wage if needed. The number of instalments follows the law's rules for the months worked in the last 36 and how many times you have requested before. The total is the instalment times their number.
